Lemon Glitter Cookies!

 I stumbled onto these little beauties that were posted over a month ago on the blog, 'Eat, Drink, Pretty', and I just fell in LOVE!



A cookie covered in glitter? Oh, NOW you've got my attention! I love both!  And these sound AND LOOK too good to eat!

Cut a Slice of Eggnog!

I have to say, at my house, Eggnog is a favorite all year, not just during the holidays - if you can find it, that is!
So I usually freeze a carton or two, just for safe-keeping, to enjoy later in the year.
Well, it hasn't been two weeks past the New Year, and I couldn't resist this one - Eggnog Pie!

Out comes a carton to thaw, so I can make this sumptuous dessert.

Cupcake Cocktail Cuties!

Yikes!  I've been so busy that when I finally looked up, I realized it's been over a week since I visited with you!
If this is any kind of example of what's to come in 2011, then I'm gonna be 'in double trouble and out of time'!

I COULD blame the lack of posting on the 'Man Child, because the crazy life as we know it, will be over soon...But I won't.
To put it in horse racing terms, we have 'rounded the turn' and are in the 'home stretch'!

Out of 12 years, we are down to the 'final four'.....the final four months, of school that is!
So needless to say, as you can imagine, my mind has been on other things!

But never fear!  I am LOVIN' this cutie-patooty cupcake idea (from the gurus over at Hello Cupcake!), and just had to share.
I already have plans to do these for a Spring celebration......like Mother's Day Brunch, or a Graduation party, perhaps?
I think they will make a great celebratory statement, even without the liquid cocktail, don't you?

Start the New Year off with 'Cookies in a Jar'!

I'm almost finished taking down Christmas, but there's one more thing I need to show you first!

One of the simplest ways to get a smile from someone, is to give them a gift!  It doesn't have to be expensive, just something that shows you thought of them.  Well, these are the easiest (and yummiest) gifts EVER, and my new favorite!  

'Cookies in a Jar' have been around awhile - like soup mix, hot chocolate mix, etc. - so that all you have to do is add the 'wet' ingredients, mix and bake.  Pretty easy, huh?  What makes them 'new' for the New Year, are the different flavors of cookie mix you can use...they're not your usual garden variety!  Anything will work, as long as it has the basic cookie dough recipe of flour, sugar and salt, and makes about 3 dozen cookies!

My choice of three varieties included - Chocolate 'Chip and Chunk', White Chocolate Walnut, and Butterscotch Pecan - to fill my Mason jars.  Layered in the jar, they make a pretty package so all you need is a gift tag!  (Click the 'Party Recipes' page link in the sidebar for these recipes and instructions!)

I LOVED all the printables I used this year, and wasn't quite ready to put my Christmas ones away, so I took The Celebration Shoppe's 'Believe' Collection that I had used for our 'Cookies and Cocktails' Party, and made 'blingy' gift tags out of the cupcake toppers and place cards.  I had also found vintage coasters with a cool snowflake pattern, through Squirrel Friend on Etsy. They were the perfect size, so I color-copied several (and added my 'bling' to them, too!) and made lid covers for my wonderful quart Mason jars.   (Who says you have to use fabric?)  

(Let me remind you that before filling your jars, make sure you've washed them with hot water and soap, and dried them really well, or overnight.)  After filling them up with layers of the homemade dry cookie mix, I tied them with silver cording, and attached a little silver snowflake ornament along with the square gift tag, (with baking instructions that I downloaded and glued on the back) to the jar! I also added a holiday monogram sticker to the backs of the round tags that I found from Party Ink on Etsy. 
They are just too festive for words, and WAY too easy to do!

'Cookies in a Jar', from beginning to end, make great 'gifts-to-go' and are a sweet way to start off someone's new year!  

Something also tells me that if you share the mix, I bet your lucky recipient will share the cookies!  Happy New Year!

Last of Our Christmas 'Snow'...

Oops, I've got to re-wind and re-post!  

For just a minute, let's go back one last time to Christmas, 
as I promised a few more pics of our 'snow day' party decor, and I hadn't yet delivered!

I wanted to show you how you can make your Christmas decor do 'double (or triple) duty'!  
Remember the 'Cookies and Cocktail's' Party we hosted a few weeks ago?  
Well, after the party, I took ALL of the snowflake decor home 
and instead of packing it away, I put it to use all over the house!  
I only had to add a couple of extra touches (such as the stockings), to finish it up at home - 
it all went so well, and so, SO easy!  Here are just a couple of ways I used the decor...
Even my little white Maltese dog, Nike, fit right into the 'white Christmas' theme!

From tabletop to tree,  buffet to chairbacks, 'let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!'
